happy birthday! =)

caught '21' on thursday at cineleisure , it was quite a thrilling show. =) and unexpectedly i bumped into weelie. haha don't really know what to say, kind of awkward. haha

had shimbashi soba at paragon before the movie, and we ordered 2 set meals. the soba was quite nice, but the portion was quite small for the set meals.

this is set A, which includes chicken, salmon sashimi, and fish cutlets.

this is set B, which includes eel, fried tofu and some unknown thing. obviously this was not what i ate, haha

on the way back to cineleisure, there was someone passing out vouchers for 1-for-1 gloria jean coffees. so we went to get a very vanilla espresso chiller, and a cookies and cream mocha chiller. and the verdict is, starbucks, coffee bean and pacific coffee serve better drinks. haha

stayed up for the crazy match of spain versus russia (was it???) and it totally screwed up my body's sleep clock. haha but i had lots of time to sleep before having to head to pasir ris to fetch my brother. he's finally out after 2 weeks confinement!

i could sense he had his share of fun inside, but he also became more of a man. =) i must admit i've missed him. <3 he told some of his funny stories over dinner, where he declared he must have fried kway teow and whatever other fried stuff available. oh yes, he made a pact with his bunkmates to make their first 'outside' drink a carbonated one. haha

caught another movie today, this time at vivocity. 'wanted' is a loud and violent show, with a nice touch of twist, but with a redundant last dialogue.

decided to try a restaurant that we've never tried before, so we ended up at the mussel guys. the deco inside is quite simple and the outdoor alfresco dining area (not shown here) overlooks the sea, and as it turns out, they were having a 1-for-1 mussel dish citibank promotion. so we tried the spicy mussels and steamed mussels, potato wedges and the plain bread. the plain bread was the most 骗钱. $2.50 for such a small basket! the mussels were more value for money, and they were fresh and tasted good :)

very lazy to blog more, but shall be busy tomorrow and monday, what with watching the euro finals and having to go mediacorp for the super band thing.

trying my best to cheer you up, don't be so sad k?

some photos from the recent ktv session.

the three girls were the earliest!

the one who set the time to meet, and yet was the latest! but his singing nice lehz, so forgiven. haha

it's just very comfortable to sing with them.=) although they're all mad, love to sing in the fake high opera pitch.

1 of my camera tripod's legs didn't extend fully, hence the slanted photos. haha the extreme right person is jianwei's brother. i think his name is jian ming? but we just call him brother. haha

the 85 dinner was quite funny, with us girls trying to make the guys understand the differences of disappointment and anger (yes there are differences!) and debating the mentality of girls. lol it's just so easy to talk crap and lame jokes with them.

looking forward to the chalet. =)

on a side note, tried the charco's grill at ang mo kio avenue 8. their portugese chicken is quite nice, tender and not too dry. too bad it's unlike astons, so you can't choose the sides.
watched 溏心风暴 yesterday and was touched by the scene where 大契 asked gilbert and jackie if they still loved each other. and then she said, 你知道,在茫茫人海中,找到彼此相爱的人,有多难?为何你们不珍惜? and it's so true. i must remind myself of this the next time i am upset or want to quarrel over a petty little issue.

the show also struck a chord in me, made me realise that my parents are not going to be here for me forever, and i should spend more time with them now that i can. which was why i'm staying home today, only to realise that they're working late. hmm my lousy planning.

anxious frantic about final year project allocation too. don't want to get a lousy project with a scary supervisor.

had fun singing ktv with some of the 2b people yesterday. haha our group was really small. only 4 guys lt, gy, jw and his bro and 3 girls, me, hong and joce. and we walked a lot, from the kampong chai chee community club to 85 market(again!), then from 85 walk to tanah merah mrt, then from tampines mrt walked to yinjie's house.

i like this comfortable feeling we've finally come to share after 10 years of friendship. =) post photos another time
Hongkong photos ahead!=)

it's already our 3rd time going Hongkong, but i'm still pretty excited! it's always nice to go overseas to relax and shop like crazy. hahaha
the euro lounge at changi airport; on the cathay flight; hongkong airport showing their support for olympics 2008, and the big countdown board

reached hongkong in time for a short shopping spree, and we headed for harbour city. and as per the previous two trips, i spent my first HKD in a sports shop. haha

our toiletries, and the nice view from our room..

then it was dinner time, and we had steamboat! but i was too shy to take photos of the spread, lol. luckily, we had steamboat for a second time! and these is only part of the food we ordered, cause it was a buffet. i like the fried fish skin, beef balls, and the variety was so much more than the ones we're used to in singapore, so we ate alot!!! burppp.. =p

woke up late on the second day (we actually woke up early for the remainder of the trip) to have wanton mee for lunch! it's a shop we always visit each time we come hongkong. the noodles and wanton are both nice! though i dun like the 鲮鱼球 inside.

then it was time to start my mad shopping spree. we went granville, nathan, cameron and mongkok centre. and the result was that i spent a lot, nearly went broke.=p dinner was at spaghetti house, which is like the pastamania of hongkong, except that the food is more expensive but much much nicer! the nice deco; and the food we ordered: clam chowder, seafood au gratin and smoked salmon pizza=)

had the ubiquitous fairwood 大快活 for lunch on day 3. forced to take these lame photos after we forgot to take photos of our food before gulping them up.
then we went to central中环, wanting to check out 利源东/西街 for hair clips i can buy for my colleagues, but there was nothing much. instead we ended up spending too much time in the H&M at crawford house. it goes without saying that we spent quite a lot again. =p

took the tram to kennedy town for our dinner, where i ate roast goose, yumyum! but again, too shy to take photos. ahaha maybe next time!

didn't take much photos during the day (cause i was too busy shopping), but this is my 收获 by day 3. haha

headed to taikoo 太古 cityplaza on day 4, where our main aim was to hit the UNIQLO store. had a nice lunch at Cafe de Coral 大家乐. we had ramen and curry chicken rice, with red bean ice and milk tea.

we spent about 3 hours in just one shop, and then walked about for a while more before going to causeway bay 铜锣湾 to have our tea break- Krispy Kreme! =)

2 of us ate 6 donuts, super fattening, but worth it. haha they even have a lame hat which looks so comical on me

posing inside the mtr stations, and my poor boy who has to carry my shopping. =p

then we went langham place, just cause it's raining and we have nowhere to run! we didn't even buy anything there, and just took lots of photos. there was this display of the 12 constellations, so we just shot photos. quite tiring, especially when we realised there was a constellation on the 13th floor when we were already at the 10th floor, and had to climb the stairs up again.

we had instant noodles, black pepper chicken leg and sushi for dinner. bought them at the convenience store and brought them back to our hotel to enjoy. quite sumptuous! but the only photo of our dinner is this stain i accidentally caused on the room carpet. and it kind of ruined my happiness of the day =( but luckily don't have to pay for the damage.

on day 5 we headed to macau!! quite excited that i keep taking photos, though we spent only about 8 hours there. haha

the ferry tickets, and the turbojet ferry which turned out to be quite slow, haha. journey was about 1 hour long, but the ferry didn't rock too badly so it was ok.

we engaged a tour guide to save us the trouble of driving around macau, and he first dropped us off for lunch. the first three photos below are the portugese tarts 葡挞 and the pork chop bun 猪扒包, the famous foods of macau. and they're really nice! the rest are the the different things we tried for lunch.
some of the sights of macau, there are casinos everywhere, and they look so grand! we also checked out a cathedral that sat atop a hill, and also the 妈祖阁。the statue in the third row below was built by the portugese before they left macau, and so it looks like an angmoh buddha, meaning it doesn't look like a buddha. hahaha
how could we miss the ruins of St. Paul's? it's like the symbol of Macau, die die cannot miss. i want take wedding photos there! but i need crowd control and weather control la. haha must photoshop all the stupid people in the background away. but i don't have photoshop haha

and of course, we couldn't miss checking out the venetian. it was so opulent, it's the only word i think describes it well. the whole interior was just golden and brightly lit. chandeliers, faux street scenery of europe, a canal for the gondolas etc..wow
didn't gamble at the casino, just went in to watch people play. then it was time to return to hongkong for our steamboat dinner. we finished dinner at 11pm, so we had a hard time sleeping on such a full stomach. but we needed to wake up early the next day to go tungchung 东涌 to check out the factory outlets.

in the end, the only things we bought were these 3 cakes. the factory outlets were disappointing, it wasn't as cheap as we expected, and there was limited sizes and variety.

so we took the long journey back to mongkok and just walked around the area and then headed to 女人街 for dinner. as it was raining, and we thought we were rich (aka mad), we tried a japanese restaurant set meal for 2. thank god it didn't disappoint =)

our lovely food! the ambience was quite nice too!

my shopping from day 4 and 5.

i like this two Tshirts that i bought for my bro and his girlfriend. sort of like a couple tee, but different in design.

on our last day, we had to leave for the airport at 12noon, so we woke up early to eat the hotel buffet breakfast. and then rushed to do some last minute shopping to get some polo tees for my dad and bro.

our return flight, and my alcoholic DFS purchases. hahaha

some last random street sights of hongkong.
first row: a bentley in tsimshatsui, our 鸡蛋仔,北京奥运2008,
second row: the peninsula
third row: some cute 老夫子posters about cough manners, and the inside of a tram.

沉浸在我们的世界.

back in sunny singapore! it was raining everyday in hongkong, though it didn't stop me from spending away every single cent. =p

each year, i look forward to this short break away. away from the rest of the world, and back into your arms. to wake up and sleep next to you, to hold your hand while strolling the streets. to create and share these memories.

to remember again why i love you.

some overdue photos from shell's birthday celebration at bedok 85 market. the group photos are still with eileen, who's currently in taiwan, so i guess will just have to wait. i was super sian that day, but the girls always cheer me up.

these are not all the food we ordered, but we attacked the carrot cake immediately when they arrived so there was no time for photos. they also had ah balling!=)

went out to celebrate the end of internship yesterday night, at dempsey hill the prime society. quite a posh place, with good food and comfortable ambience.

the deco seems to be tend towards medieval times of knights and what-not.

the place mats, depicting the different parts of the animal, with some lame descriptions. and the cutlery is kept in an envelope claiming "the inauguration kit".

clockwise from top left: chocolate martini, filet mignon, pork ribs, chocolate fondant. yumyum!

some random photos of the other restaurants at dempsey hill.

seriously broke, have to curb spending on return from hongkong! seriously have to go budget!but right now, i'm just happily packing my luggage for the trip!

it's hard not to be sad when i just heard a statement that makes me feel inferior. perhaps its made even worse by the joking tone, and also that you don't think it means anything. but i should also learn not to be affected by it, especially when it's only about an inconsequential passerby.

关于爱情,我懂得不多,虽然曾经伤过心,流过泪。won't pretend to be the know-it-all, cause

but since we're in it for the long run, hopefully one day they'll know you love me and treat me well. as evan said yesterday, i think i've really lucked it this time round.

Monday, June 09, 2008

had a fun day with evan today, pedicured at p.i.n.c, its not bad! =) quite satisfied with the value and service. its quite rare too to be meeting evan for more than 2 hours, so i had a very enjoyable day that ended with bumping into a surprised qiuling.

can't help feeling excited about hongkong!! yayness

very lazy to blog much. but IA's FINALLY OVER!!!! such happiness, practically bouncing round the office on friday. had a farewell lunch at IMM pepper lunch express, and so it's finally time for me to slack! gotta plan lots of things. need to exercise, chalet, organise my life..

met the girls on wed to celebrate shell's birthday belatedly. had local fare at 85, i lazy upload the photos, but it was pretty much the usual stuff. and got updates on the various stuff going on in each other's lives. the only conclusion i can say is let's wait and see. *shrugs*

been eating eating eating. ALOT. die, fat!!
had buffet dinner at Novotel on Sat in early celebration of Fathers' Day. $45+++ per pax, but luckily my cousin had voucher, so ended up paying only $27 each. the food was not spectacular, but it was different from the buffets my maternal extended family are used to. there was quite a wide variety, and the desserts and decor was quite nice.

had dinner at sun with moon japanese restaurant yesterday. thought the central branch offered a cheaper menu, but no lehz, kena cheated. haha nonetheless, the presentation and taste of the food was nice!=)

this is my tempura udon

this is the rice with salmon and salmon roe, very interesting. you must wait for the hourglass at the top to finish before you can open the cover to start eating.

this is the assorted skewers, got prawn, teriyaki chicken, quail egg (i think) and pork belly.

the salad is also very interesting! they pour all the veggies into a tall bottle, then pour the sauce in, and shake it before pouring out on a plate. had azabu sabo green tea red bean ice cream after that! very satisfied. yum yum

there was a lunch party in my office today, the word was that its for my farewell as well as to celebrate two colleagues who have their birthdays in June. everyone brought something to contribute, so we all ended up very well-fed. there was kueh lapis, eclairs, spring rolls, tomato rice, chicken drumlets, curry chicken, otak, and even a chocolate fountain! they even decorated the place with balloons and streamers!

and they surprised me with a balloon and a cute little monkey wearing a custom printed tee-shirt bearing their well wishes. quite touched actually, to know i'm appreciated and they went to such great effort.

i'll miss them even after ending my attachment. they are such friendly and warm people, who make working more enjoyable. =)

and randomly, this is what happens when you let little girls use your handphone. though they are really very cute and innocent.

can't really believe my bro's enlisting on 13th June.
